Dol Amroth

Sindarin: dol...head, hill, mount + Amroth

Chief city of the fief of Belfalas, and the second most important city in Gondor after Minas Tirith. DolAmroth is named after the ill-fated Elven-king of Lothlorien, who was lost at sea off the coast of Belfalas, en route to Elvenhome.

The Princes of DolAmroth are considered to be of high blood, being the descendants of Galador, first Lord of DolAmroth, who was the son of Imrazôr the Númenórean and the Elven lady Mithrellas. Adjacent to DolAmroth is Edhellond, an abandoned Elf-haven. It was from here that many Galadhrim set sail for the West, fleeing the Balrog of Moria.
