Ecthelion II

The twenty-fifth ruling Steward of Gondor. Aragorn served Ecthelion under the name Thorongil, and Ecthelion trusted Thorongil and listened to his counsels. Despite the fact that Aragorn never tried to act as anything more than a captain of the army, there was some rivalry between Ecthelion's son Denethor, aspirant for the Stewardship, and Thorongil.
