Esgaroth

City of men on the LongLake, destroyed by Smaug in ThA 2941, rebuilt with gold from Smaug's hoard. The city was built on wooden stilts, driven into the bottom of the lake. Esgaroth was an important trade center, supplying food and drink for Erebor and the WoodlandRealm, and distributing the products of Dale and Erebor.
