Forum / Three Silmarilli - Three Rings

JamesGray has suggested a very intriguing topic!

Here is what James said:

An interesting parallel can be drawn between the three rings and the final disposition of the Silmarils:

The Silmaril set in The Necklace of the Dwarves rests in the air of the heavens upon the brow of Eärendil. Maedhros threw himself and the Silmaril he bore into a chasm of fire. Maglor threw his jewel into the sea.

Does anyone have further information supporting/disproving the stones of the three rings being in fact, the Silmarils? JamesGray

Let's discuss it.

I personally don't think that the stones on the three rings of power were the Silmarilli. In fact I think that the summarized story of each of these jewels, which James has provided, speaks for itself. I mean ... Eärendil's Silmaril was kept in the skies while the other two were utterly lost.

I think that the three Rings of Power represent the basic vital elements of Arda and that as vital elements, they in fact preserved life in Arda. I find an interesting allegory in the "behind the scene" struggle of the Rings - those three of the HighElves and the One Ring of Sauron. It's life and death in a clash for existance. --- LhunRoss
