Isengar Took
1262-1360 S.R. (Shire Reckoning)
Youngest son of Gerontius Took, The Old Took. Said to have 'gone to sea' in his youth.
Though only found in a brief entry to the Tookish Family Tree (LotR, appendix C) it is more than probable that this is a playful reference on Professor Tolkien's part to this early passage in The Hobbit.
| "Not the Gandalf who was responsible for so many quiet lads and lasses going off into the Blue for mad adventures. Anything from climbing trees to visiting Elves - or sailing in ships, sailing to other shores! Bless me, life used to be quite inter - I mean, you used to upset things badly in these parts once upon a time. I beg your pardon, but I had no idea you were still in business." | The Hobbit - An Unexpected Party. |

It should be noted that since Isengar had gone to sea and that we have a date for his death; I think that we can surmise that he successfully returned to the Shire.
He passed away in 1360 ShR in the year that Bilbo had turned 70 years old -- some 18 years after his adventures in the Wilderlands
What stories they must have shared with each other.
