Ossë

A Maia, vassal of Ulmo, with whom he entered the waters of Arda; spouse of Uinen. Ossë loved and instructed the Teleri when they were stranded on the shores of Beleriand after the departure of the Vanyar and Noldor. After being drawn across the sea on an island, Ossë persuaded the Teleri and Ulmo, to not continue on to Valinor, and he anchored their isle in the Bay of Eldamar. This island was then called TolEressëa. Later, at the urging of the Valar, Ossë taught them the art of ship-building, that they might come at last to Valinor. Ossë later raised Númenor out of the depths of the Sea for the Edain.
