Watcher in the Water

A many tentacled monster, which lived in the lake that had been created by the damming of Sirannon at the West-gate of Moria. It had trapped the dwarves of Moria in Moria and killed Óin.

When the Fellowship of the Ring tried to enter Moria it seized Frodo, attacked the Fellowship and then closed and blocked the West-gate.
