Eöl was also a metalsmith of great skill and had much traffic with the Dwarves of the BlueMountains. He created the swords Anglachel and Anguirel, the first of which became the sword of Beleg and then Túrin Turambar.
Dwelt in the shadowy NanElmoth; left the forest to pursue Maeglin and Aredhel; was caught by Turgon's guards and summoned to the King. There Turgon gave him a choice: to stay or to die. He flung a javelin at Maeglin but Aredhel shielded her son; and she died from the javelin's poison. Eöl earned his death by this act, and Turgon sentenced him to be flung over the walls of Gondolin.
