Fëanorian Lamps

Created by the great craftsman Fëanor, these lamps are described as containing 'Crystals hung in a fine chain net, the crystals being ever shining with an inner blue radiance.' Although not one of Fëanor's greater works these lamps neverless seemed to have been widely used by the Noldor, in Valinor and later Beleriand. Neither wind nor rain could extinguish their light, making them useful indeed for journeying in the wilds. It would appear that after Fëanor's death the secrets of their creation was lost.

When the Fellowship entered Lothlorien an elf opened a shutter of a lamp, revealing a clear silver beam of light.
