Greenwood the Great

The great forest east of Anduin. In the ThirdAge, while Sauron resided in DolGuldur, his shadow fell on the forest and dark creatures spread there and so it became known as Mirkwood.

After the WotR it was cleansed and renamed ErynLasgalen.
