Gwaith-i-Mírdain
(redirection from Jewel-smiths)

Sind.: People of the Jewel-smiths

Name of the fellowship of craftsmen, the Jewel-smiths of the Noldor in Eregion, the greatest craftsmen of all times (except for Fëanor). Their most skilled was Celebrimbor who forged the ThreeRings.

Chief city was Ost-in-Edhil.

After the destruction of their city in the War of the Elves and Sauron, a remnant of this people--those who didn't sail into the West--fled with Elrond to Rivendell, where they remained until the end of the ThirdAge. It might have been these folk who reforged the Sword of Elendil for Aragorn. Others escaped through Moria to settle among the Elves in Lorien.
