Karen Wynn Fonstad was a freelance cartographer and part-time lecturer at The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She was also the author and illustrator of other carthographic works like The Atlas of Pern, The Atlas of the Land, The Atlas of the Dragonlance World and The Forgotten Realms Atlas.
