Mablung

Elf of Doriath, chief captain of Thingol, friend of Túrin, called 'of the Heavy Hand', which is the meaning of his name.

Mablung was one of the Elves of Doriath who escorted Morwen, and unknowingly, Nienor, when Morwen insisted on going to Nargothrond. Mablung and his troops were lost in the fog caused by Glaurung, and did not find Nienor until after her memory had been destroyed by Gaurung. An attack by a company of Orcs scattered the Elves and caused Nienor to run off into the forest. Later, Mablung alone of his company survived the attack of Carcharoth to report this onslaught to Thingol. Surviving the wolf-hunt, Mablung was killed by the Dwarves in Menegroth.
