Saruman

also called Saruman the White.

One of the Istari, he was originally the head of the HerenIstarion, the Order of Wizards and head of the WhiteCouncil.

His name as a Maia was Curumo in Quenya, of which Curunír is the Sindarin form.

Saruman contains the Anglo-Saxon word searu (searo), saru: 'skill, cleverness, cunning: trick, treachery, cunning device'.
