Undómiel
aka Arwen, Evenstar
Princess of the Eldar, daughter of Elrond and Celebríen. She had two brothers Elladan and Elrohir. She was born in 241 ThA probably at Imladris.
| Young she was and yet not so. The braids of her dark hair were touched by no frost; her white arms and clear face were flawless and smooth, and the light of stars was in her bright eyes, grey as a cloudless night; yet queenly she looked, and thought and knowledge were in her glance, as of one who has known many things that the years bring. Above her brow her head was covered with a cap of silver lace netted with small gems, glittering white; but her soft grey raiment had no ornament save a girdle of leaves wrought in silver. | The Fellowship of the Ring, Many Meetings |

Long years she had been in the land of her mother’s kin, Lórien and seldom did she stay at Imladris. One day of the year 2951, when she was at Imladris to visit her father, she met Aragorn, who at that time was a youth, twenty years old. Their love was instant, but Aragorn left to the south lands to fight in the service of Ecthelion II, steward of Gondor. In 2980, they met again, but this time at Lórien. Aragorn gave her the ring of Barahir and they plighted their throth upon the hill of CerinAmroth. When Elrond learned it, he declared to Aragorn that his daughter Arwen would only wed the king of both Gondor and Arnor.
After the War of the Ring, when Aragorn had fulfilled the demands of Elrond, he wedded Arwen in the City of the Kings upon the day of Midsummer. And after a while, her father took the StraightRoad to Aman. But by choosing to marry Aragorn and stay on Middle-earth and not follow her father, Arwen forsook her Elven immortality and was counted among the mortal. Thus she became Queen of the ReunitedKingdom and bore a son Eldarion and many daughters. After the death of Aragorn in 120 of FoA, she left MinasTirith, went to the deserted Lórien and on CerinAmroth laid her body and died the following winter.
Arwen was known for her great beauty and especially for her striking resemblance with Lúthien - with whom she shared the same fate. Because of this beauty she was called Undómiel, for she was the Evenstar of her people. By her marriage with Aragorn, the strain of elvish blood was renewed in Men.
Politically, the city of MinasAnor in Gondor was the Tower of the Sun. Pippin first sees it at daybreak, and before the SiegeOfGondor? he sees the sun set on it one last time.
After the West defeated the Shadow, Arwen the Evening Daughter married King Elessar. Frodo Baggins pointed out that, as a turning point in Gondor's history, having a night-spirit as a queen indicated Gondor's people would no longer fear the night time.
