Just a question that popped into my mind during christmas-vacation. Would it be an idea if the different entries also told in which book that particular person, place, beast, etc is mentioned?
A lot of work, yes. But wouldn't it enhance the quality of this place? Read more about wordpress website templates.
Also, I am planning on starting working my way through the indexes of the History of Middle-earth series, and add those on that listing that are not yet mentioned on the Wiki. I will probably start with The Book of Lost Tales this coming week-end. -- LeifA
- I think that's a good idea. Perhaps something like the folder system for books or essay help? Right now I'm going through Unfinished Tales and figuring out which buy essay names are not here yet, so maybe we could start the new system with our new entries? -- GilMiriel
- I havent heard anything from the others, so I suggest that we "just do it!"
I am not sure how to do it, but let us at least use a common standard. Something like the Folder system sounds OK with me. -- LeifA
- I too think that this is a pretty good idea, Leif and Lucy. Maybe we should use the 'common' shortcuts for book-names (e.g. LotR, HoMeX, etc.)? in this case?
- Also I'd like to wish all our contributors and readers a Happy and Prosperous 2005 -- Walter
- I think that using the common shortcuts may be the best idea. That way, there will be alink that leads to information about the book itself. And then we could just add the chapter in question. Adding pages like it is done in the index sould probably be too much.
- Should such a referrence be put in a special font or in a quote-box or something like that?
- I don't think that would be necessary. I would suggest to put it either into or right above the bottom line (with the Folders)... -- Walter
- Maybe we could add another line, something like this, or maybe make FoundIn? or Found in another page with a sentence or two explaining the idea?
- Found in: LotR
- FolderCompendium etc.
- -- GilMiriel
- I like that idea... -- Walter
- I think that it looks very good indeed!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays -- Walter
- Thank you very much, Walter! And the same from me to all of you
-- LeifA
- Of course, I couldn't miss this opportunity to tell everyone: Merry Christmas / Happy Solstice from me too :D !- BarboraDra (EDIT: seeing that Wiki underlined "merry", I remembered that we sometimes joke saying "Pippin Christmas to you"
)

I would like to remind our contributors to pay some attention to existing Copyrights. Essays, paintings, drawings, poems, etc. of the late Prof. Tolkien are all protected by Copyrights and can not be published here in full. A few Tolkien dedicated websites have already been closed due to breaches of the Copyright laws -- WalterCharzewski

I am looking for some input on TolkienWikiVandalism -- Walter
October 04, 2004 | | I just noticed that the essay I've been working on, Estel to Elessar, doesn't show up on the FolderEssays page, even though it has FolderEssays on the bottom . . . ??? - GilMirielpiese auto import
- Sorry for this technical problem, I'll look into it. -- HelmutLeitner October 5, 2004 7:34 CET

September 15, 2004 | | I'm looking for reviews of The LotR trilogy when first published, both positive and negative, and any reviews and/or engaging with the book's ideas and it's place in literature.
I hope someone here can lead me to some on-line resources.
Many thanks in advance,
AeMees?

I am happy to announce that the TolkienWiki sites will be moved to new servers soon. Our new servers will provide about 50 times the space and 5-10 times the speed of the old server. The moving will - hopefully - take place around the next weekend, I hope everything will go smoothly. It might be, however, that the sites are unavailable for a few hours. -- Walter
Note: The MessageBoard Archives are now zipped and stored elsewhere in order to not eat up more space on our host's server than necessary. If you need something from one of those pages please contact me. -- Walter
