Fëanor

Quenya: spirit of fire

Son of Finwë and Míriel, prince of the Noldor, most skillful, he made the Silmarils and invented the Fëanorian alphabet called the Tengwar of Fëanor.

In the Noontide of the Blessed Realm, The eldest son of Finwë, High King of the Noldor was born in Eldamar at Tirion. His name was Curufinwë, but his mother Miriel? called him Fëanor meaning Spirit of Fire. Fëanor drained so much of his mothers spirit at his birth that she soon after passed into the Halls of Mandos.

Fëanor was tall, and fair of face, and masterful, his eyes piercingly bright and his hair raven-dark; Few ever change his courses by council and none by force.

Fëanor married Nerdanel daughter of Mahtan The Smith, Nerdanel strength was in understanding minds and not mastery. She bore Fëanor seven son,the Sons of Fëanor, some of her sons shared her temperment, but some leand to their father. Mahtan taught Fëanor stone and metal work.

All was well until Finwë married Indis the Vanyar. Fëanor could not abide having to share the love of his father with anyone. Very little love did Fëanor have for Indis' sons Fingolfin and Finarfin.

And they mourned not more for the death of the Trees then for the marring of Fëanor: of the works of Melkor one of the most evil. For Fëanor was made the mightiest in all parts of the body and the mind, in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding,in skill, in strenght and in subtlety alike, of all the Children of Ilúvatar, and a bright flame was in him. The works of wonder for the glory of Arda the he might otherwise have wrought only Manwë might in some measure conceive.
