Q: How could an Elf speaking Quenya give M a Sindarin name??
- Being no specialist in Tolkien's languages I can only guess why Tolkien chose this name in the latest manuscripts and why he ascribed it to Fëanor. However, in the earlier manuscripts Tolkien used the term the Black Foe of the world and in a footnote the name given was Quenya: Moriñgotho (resp. Moringotto; c.f. HoMeX) -- Walter
